Baghdad – From Fiction to Reality

(PRWEB) June 13, 2004

Author Tony Sharp seems to have had a premonition in his book “The House of Baghdad” though it was written as a light-hearted account of the antics and activities of a mad foreign Dictator in the future.

Despite the unfortunate correlation with 9/11, Tony Sharp establishes a believable scenario which involves plastic surgery, adultery, the media and the film industry. The story would certainly provide interesting material for a movie.

The book cover is extremely descriptive, in cartoon style, of the fictional story inside. It will make its readers think but give them a laugh at the same time.

This is Tony Sharp’s second novel; his third is awaited with anticipation.

Further details about the story, the Author and the supply can be found at http://www.bookswithalaugh.co.uk

New Title Reveals How to Be Victorious Through Faith in God

New Title Reveals How to Be Victorious Through Faith in God

Identity Crisis

Longwood, FL (Vocus/PRWEB) January 18, 2011

In the time of Jesus, the question was asked: “Can anything good come out of Nazareth?” (John 1:46). Jesus dwelled in a city in Galilee that was referred to as a place of scorn and ridicule. In the same context, author Mary Ruth Turner asks, “Can anything good come from the life of a worm?” in her new Xulon Press book, Identity Crisis: A Pristine Narrative of a Blessed Worm ($ 14.99, paperback, 978-1-60957-871-8). This book reveals that Jesus blessed mankind by sacrificing His life so that all humanity could live, including the lowly, meek, less fortunate, and despicable “worms” of society. The author seeks to show how, through faith in God, one can be victorious and endure any adverse circumstances.

“Jesus said, ‘But many that are first shall be last; and the last first,’” the author says. “So don’t worry about why you may not receive any recognition for the work you do in this lifetime. The reward is far beyond ‘time.’ It is eternal, for God has laid up a crown of righteousness for those who have kept the faith.” Continue reading

Private Sector Initiative Aims to Turn Jerusalem Into International Business Venue

(PRWEB) October 21, 2004

StartUp Jerusalem, a non-profit, independent venture bringing Jewish and Arab business leaders together to create a new economic future for Jerusalem, today launched a comprehensive plan for transforming the city into a top international center for high-end outsourcing and business services.

The project, chaired by venture capitalist Alan Feld, has already identified a geographic “cluster” of existing business-service companies for development in the city, based on the theory and proven model of Harvard Business School Professor Michael E. Porter for giving cities an economic edge. Porter, whose methodologies have achieved success in many of the world’s leading business centers, including the Massachusetts Life Sciences cluster, the Norwegian Maritime cluster and the Turkish Tourism cluster, is now lending his support to StartUp Jerusalem as its honorary chairman and was present at the October 18 Jerusalem conference that launched the initiative.

Israel’s finance minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, pledged government support for the project at the conference.

“The population of Jerusalem is highly skilled, educated and multi-lingual,” explains CEO Eli Kazhdan. “In addition to Hebrew and Arabic speakers, Jerusalem is home to tens of thousands of immigrants who speak English, French, Russian, Spanish, German and other languages on a mother tongue level and understand those cultures. Further, combination of Jewish and Arab communities afford the opportunity for 24/7 work, 365 days a year.” Continue reading

EBay Bidders Find Way to Fix Highest Bid

(PRWEB) August 13, 2005

While monitoring online auction sites for the sale of illegal artifacts from Mesopotamia, Iraq Museum International (http://www.BaghdadMuseum.org) discovered a way that bidders on eBay can influence the highest bid and cheat other bidders.

Using an eBay listing and its bidding history, Iraq Museum International demonstrates how a 4-step price-fixing process led to the online sale of a fake “Sumerian Stone Statue of a Seated Male” on eBay for $ 3,726 on Monday, August 1, 2005.

Dubbed the “Sniper Trap,” the process can be executed on eBay from any computer in the world and involves the following steps for any auction listing on the site:

1. The seller and a second person posing as a bidder prepare to precisely synchronize their keystrokes on two separate computers logged onto eBay.

2. In the final minute of bidding, the person posing as a bidder places an extremely high bid on the item. This has the effect of triggering all automatic bids set by any other bidder, instantly revealing his or her secret maximum bid.

3. Meanwhile, the seller has filled out a bid cancellation form at eBay, and is ready at the keyboard with a finger over the “Enter” key. Within the last 30 seconds of the electronic auction the seller presses the key, submitting the form to automatically cancel the bid placed by the false bidder. Continue reading

Prime City Investment at Astrum Towers, Istanbul, Turkey

Easley, SC (PRWEB) August 5, 2007

From an amazing 29,092 GBP, city property in Turkey´s emerging Büyükçekmece of Istanbul is today offering excellent investment potential, according to The International Property Investment Network (IPIN). Tipped by top economists as a prime investment location, Istanbul offers various opportunities in Büyükçekmece, such as this carefully selected development at Astrum Towers. Its first phase comprises blocks of 1,285 one, two and three bedroom units, complete with swimming pools and other amenities, while two more phases are to follow.

These off-plan apartments will provide comfortable, quality accommodation in an area now famed as a hotspot for the city’s new industrial activities.

IPIN regards Astrum Towers is an ideal city investment because:

Considering the high capital growth rates that Istanbul property is forecasted to achieve, the developers quote projected annual returns of 20%. With growth rates continuing to be driven by demand through increased jobs and disposable income, investors do expect to see significant growth in such a key location; strong GDP growth is also driving the demand for local housing.
Located alongside the new industrial areas of Haramidere and Beylikdüzü, Astrum Towers sits conveniently close to the city centre, being easily accessible via the TEM motorway linking Istanbul to Ankara and the E-5 highway
Due to its situation within an emerging business area of Istanbul, the development is set to attract a ready supply of professionals seeking rental accommodation, in turn fuelling a healthy buy-to-let investment market
The blocks are a stone’s throw from brand new commercial and recreation centres, providing convenient, modern amenities close at hand
The major commercial harbor at Kumport is located close to Beylikdüzü, ideally serving industries in the area
Daily flight connections link Istanbul and Heathrow via Turkish Airlines, with XL Airlines also running a weekly service to Gatwick
The units are built to high standards by a large developer, carefully vetted by IPIN

Now that commercial giants such as Ikea and Harvey Nichols have opened up in Istanbul and the headquarters of many other multinational companies and foreign banks are now operating from Turkey, Istanbul is taking the commercial limelight – so much so that the retail space available is far below demand levels, thus creating a strong opportunity for all timely investors.
